Manila, Philippines - Recent passing of greatest Filipino actor of all time, Eddie Garcia made some mixed reactions among his celebrity friends in connection with the National Artist title that should be given to him.

Some actors and actress that had worked with him reminisce the experiences of working with the late seasoned actor whether on and off the camera.

Many celebrities believe that the veteran actor well deserved the title of being one of the National Artists of our time.

One of these celebrities is the Senator-elect and Probinsyano co-star Lito Lapid, who also believes that the said title should be awarded to Eddie not only he deserves it but also for having served in the film industry for the longest time.

"Dapat siguro. Wala pang nakakakuha sa rekord niyang ganyang edad na '90 tapos nakakapag-action pa siya, 'yun nga, wala pa siyang sakit," the celebrity-senator said.

"Kahit ako, idolo ko iyan." Lapid praises Eddie Garcia's versatility as an actor who could convincingly play both 'bida' & 'kontrabida' or pull off any age in his roles. Lapid believes this is one reason Garcia deserves a National Artist approval.

The Senator-Actor plans to study possible legislation on occupational safety in movie/TV sets, where they would call for input from stuntmen & other directors.

Representative Vilma Santos-Recto also gave her side on the issue, she said she would personally help co-sponsor a bill in the House of Representatives to push for this title to be awarded to Eddie Garcia.

"Nararapat lamang na ibigay sa kanya 'yung para sa kanya kasi, kung meron man tayong dapat hangaan, up to his last breath ay nasa show business." Vilma said

On the other hand, other celebrity aired their frustrations like Christopher de Leon. He said "Ba't di nyo binigay noong buhay pa siya? He could have appreciated that when he was still alive, and now he’s up there...beyond. Yeah, why not, sure. But it could have been better when he was still alive."

Senator Imee Marcos also shared the same sentiments with Christopher de Leon. she said, "Nakakahiya, sobrang late na natin, bakit pa posthumous. Medyo na-delayed. Siguro sa isipan natin, Eddie Garcia will be there forever. Hindi na natin naisip na overdue na overdue na ang National Artist award,"

The veteran actor had an accident while shooting an upcoming television series produced by GMA7. He died last June 20, 2019, at the age of 90, 12 days after the accident.
