OPM Rock legend Pepe Smith dies at 71

Legendary OPM rock singer and drummer Joseph William Feliciano “Pepe” Smith has passed away at the age of 71.

The sad news was shared by Smith’s daughter Daisy Smith-Owen on Facebook.

“Thank you for everything papa bear ko. Thank you for being the best dad in the world. I know youre in the best place now, no more pains papa.. i will see you in few days. I love you to the moon and back.” She wrote

While his other daughter Sanya Smith posted a photo hugging his father on Instagram with double heart at cloud emojis as the only caption.

In November 2017 Smith suffered a stroke that left him with speech impairment and sometime in September 2018, he underwent a gallbladder surgery at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.

Smith was born in Angeles Pampanga on December 25, 1947. He joined the rock band Juan dela Cruz in 1970’s as vocalist and drummer along with Wally Gonzales, who was the guitarist and 
vocalist Mike Hanopol.

The group is best known for their hits like "Beep Beep," "Balong Malalim," "Titser's Enemy No. 1," "Himig Natin," "No Touch" and "Kahit Anong Mangyari."

No update on the reason of his death as of this writing.
