In an exclusive interview with GMA News, the Ateneo ‘bully’ and his mother issued a public apology, weeks after the bullying incident video has spread like fire online and drew outraged from the netizens.

“I would like to apologize for the action of my son. Sa nasaktan niya, sa school kung na-drag man ang school sa isyu na ‘to, I apologize,” the teenager’s mother said in an interview with Arnold Clavio yesterday.

She added

Meanwhile, the student, who is now said to be undergoing counseling, asserted that he was only
defending himself from the other schoolmate.

“I was just defending myself, hindi naman ako nambu-bully (I don’t bully) for no reason eh.” He said

“Hindi enough na salita kasi yung malungkot, yung devastated, kulang yun eh to describe how we felt,” the mother further said.”

She added

With this, some celebrities could not help but be disappointed with how the mother and son expressed themselves – some found it insincere.

“Sana, mommy, anak… sana nag-apologize na lang kayo at nangakong hindi na ito mauulit kesa sabihin ni bully-lit na dinepensahan lang niya ang sarili niya,” comedian, Ogie Diaz said on his Facebook post

Diaz also said that the family should not be mad to people who were judging them – after all, three separate videos surfaced online showing different instances of bullying involving the kid.

Diaz said

He added

Other celebrities also commended on the said post of Diaz.

Actress Ynez Veneracion also said she felt a lack of sincerity on the part of the mother’s apology.

She said

“‘Pinoy Big Brother” alum Fourth Pagotan also criticized the attitude of the mother during the interview.

“Yung ina kunsintidor ang dating… halatang may attitude din” he said
