Manila, Philippines - Members of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Police Intelligence and Investigation Division (PIID) apprehended a notorious swindler, who recently victimized a newly-arrived Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).

Reportedly, the suspect was identified as Juvy Zamora, who befriended OFW Gemalie Martin while she was waiting for her connecting flight to Tuguegarao.

Based on the police report, Zamora apparently had snacks with Martin inside the airport. The latter was convinced to withdraw P270, 000 from a bank. The suspect then accompanied Martin to the ladies’ room.

The OFW’s money, along with her bag containing 10,000 HK dollars, four mobile phones, jewelry, passport, and other important documents, were gone and Zamora was no longer around when she got out of the ladies’ room.

To ensure the identification of the swindler, operatives reviewed the CCTV footage from the restaurant, and further investigation led to the discovery that Juvy Zamora, who resides in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, was the thief who victimized Martin.

Airport Police Department (APD) chief, Romeo Labador, ordered a group of operatives to go to Zamora's residence where she was arrested.

"We were able to apprehend her Wednesday night,” Airport police Senior Inspector Nemencio Bawalan said in an interview with the Philippine News Agency.

The operatives were able recover Martin’s documents and other belongings but only P65,000 cash.

"However, we were only able to recover PHP65,000 cash," Bawalan said

Charges for violation of Articles 308 and 151 of the Revised Penal Code were already filed at the Pasay City Prosecutor's Office against Zamora, who is currently detained at the APD headquarters.
