104 nabbed for illegal online gambling in Pasig raid via Philippine News Agency

Manila, Philippines – The Operatives of the Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested 104 persons, including 93 Chinese nationals for illegal online gambling in Pasig City on Thursday.

NCRPO head, Director Guillermo Eleazar said in a statement that RSOU and PNP-ACG conducted the raid around 1 p.m. at the second floor of the Ortigas Techno Point Building 2, CW Home Depot Complex along Doña Julia Vargas Avenue.

The raid conducted at the Finasia Tech Inc., was by the virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Encarnacion Moya-Balbastro of Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 146.

The authorities also seized several desktop and laptop computers, Android mobile phones and other devices during the raid.

The NCRPO head said that upon inspection/forensic examination on the seized computers, the PNP-ACG personnel found volatile data.

The arrested individuals will be detained in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City and will be facing violation of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) in relation to Presidential Decree 1602 (Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling).
